THE SECRET LIVES OF IRISH PRIESTS
Dr. John Weafer, a sociologist and former seminarian, was looking for studies on the lives of catholic priests, but was having trouble finding much if anything. When he did find something, the details were very superficial, and Weafer knew there had to be more.
Seeing that Weafer could not find any information, he decided to make his own. Starting his own research project, he used his old seminary contacts, he was able to publish his book “Thirty-Three Good Men: Celibacy, Obedience and Identity”. A book that explores daily clerical struggles, allegations and romantic relationships of Irish priests. Huffingtinpost.com gives us insight into Dr. Weafer’s book.
The online article focuses on one of the priests from the book; Fr L, who was ordained in the 1990’s. Fr L, it is told, engaged in a romantic relationship with another priest.
